October 15 2008: Public speaking

  • Roy Leban is a serial software entrepreneur focusing on usable software and services. An expert at both usability and software development, Roy has shipped more than twenty commercial products and services, including groundbreaking products in desktop productivity, early tablet computers, and web publishing. Roy has worked at Microsoft and Ashton-Tate and played a leadership role in a half-dozen startup companies. He is currently hard at work on Groupthink (www.groupthink.com), a new consumer web service launching in early November. In his spare time, he constructs puzzles (www.puzzazz.com), makes pizza, takes pictures, and blogs.
  • Tom Music (tommusic.net) is a musician, speaker, entrepreneur, and developer who has been writing software for fun and profit since before he could drive. A former Amazonian, he now spends his days as the lead developer for a small team that makes software for the construction industry. Tom has been a member of Toastmasters International for two years, and has won awards at multiple Area and Division speech contests. In college he competed in Parliamentary Debate for the University of Washington. Earlier this year Tom launched a pair of collaborative haiku web applications that have so far earned revenue worth 2 pints of beer.
